Dr. Brett Homme
Brett Homme grew up in Papillion, Nebraska, a suburb just south of Omaha. After his family adopted their first dog—a black Labrador—when he was about five years old, Brett knew he wanted to become a veterinarian for dogs and cats. Throughout high school and college, he worked and volunteered in a variety of animal-related settings, including a small animal veterinary clinic in Papillion, the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, the Fontenelle Forest Wildlife Center in Bellevue, and the Veterinary Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Kansas State University in 2018 and went on to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine through the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln/Iowa State University in 2022.
Brett always dreamed of living somewhere with more trees and scenic views than Nebraska, so he made the move to Colorado to begin his veterinary career. He’s excited to enjoy all the outdoor activities the state has to offer—especially hiking and skiing. In his free time, Brett also enjoys reading, working out, and playing board and video games with his family. While he doesn’t currently have any pets, he’s planning to adopt a dog later this year once he’s settled into his new Colorado life.
